Abstract
The optical properties of an ultrathin water layer at the interface between two dielectrics (ZnSe–SiO2) are studied by FTIR spectroscopy. Effective refractive indices and absorption coefficients in the region of stretching vibrations of the OH group are determined. It is found that water molecules in the water–quartz glass interface layer have a planar orientation.
