Abstract
The somatic and generative production and the P/B-coefficient of polar cod Boreogadus saida of the Barents Sea were calculated using a long-term dataset (1969–2013). It has been found that the main contribution to the production in 1969–1978 was made by the individuals aged 1+–4+, while that in a later period was by the fish aged 1+–2+; the share of somatic production varied from 54 to 94%. In 1986–2013, a decrease in generative production was observed in all age groups. The intensity of production processes increased in 1969–2004 and declined in 2005–2008 and in 2013. The average annual P/B-coefficient of the polar cod varied from 0.62–1.10, which was significantly lower than the hypothetical expert value (1.5).
