Аннотация
The article states that the river Volga in G. Yakhina’s novel “Children of mine” is not only a geographic object, but also the key to understanding a whole set of concepts related to the plot, symbolic and mythopoetic levels of the text. The river is the universal archetype and means the border between life and death, reality and mystery, commonness and perfection, temporality and eternity. The river becomes one of the central images of the work. The river Volga in the novel is a locus sacralis, an altar, and a prima materia, the womb of the universe, the feminine principle, the source of life.
