Abstract

This paper considers the problem of completeness of information transfer during translation; the latter is understood as a type of communicative activity on transposing full-value verbal messages from one culture (and language) into another culture (and language). The main attention is devoted to the translation transformations of compression, or contraction, and extension of information. The viewpoint that the term “translation with elements of localization” is valid is supported. The analysis is based on authentic texts of scientific, technical, and business literature.
