Abstract

Ways of reducing the production cost of liquid helium through minimization of nonproductive start and shut-down times of the liquefier and optimization of the liquefaction stage and the stage of pouring the helium into Dewar vessels are considered. The utility of using adaptive automatic control systems for these purposes is demonstrated. Results of an experimental study of the G-4 helium liquefier that illustrates the advantages of adaptive control systems are presented.
