Abstract

Looking through the works of Mendelssohn, Bezold, G. Veo, Th. Cach, R. Tiegerstedt'a, J. Gad'a, F. Heymans'a, Schenck'a, Rollet'a and A. Lohmann'a, it can be seen that all the authors mentioned agree that with decreasing temperature the latent the period of the muscle contraction curve increases; the disagreement lies, firstly, in the opinion regarding the change in the height of the curve and the magnitude of the descent; secondly, the question of the gradual increase in the latent period, depending on the gradual decrease in temperature, remains unclear, and most importantly, the question of the constancy of the latent period at different temperatures is not raised at all.
