Abstract
Hydrosols of hydrated tungsten trioxide WO3 • nH2O have been synthesized via peptization of a precipitate obtained by hydrolysis of potassium tungstate. It has been shown that the resulting sols are stable to aggregation in a pH range of 3.0–4.5. Hydrodynamic diameters and ζ potentials of WO3 • nH2O particles have been determined as functions of dispersion medium pH. In addition, their density and degree of hydration have been found for the stable sols. The thickness of particle surface layers has been estimated.
