Nuclear-level densities in the 49V and 57Co nuclei on the basis of evaporated-neutron spectra in (p, n) and (d, n) reactions

Zhuravlev B., Titarenko N.

摘要

The spectra of neutrons from the reactions 49Ti(p, n)49V and 57Fe (p, n)57Co were measured in the range of proton energies between 8 and 11 MeV along with their counterparts from the reactions 48Ti(d, n)49V and 56Fe (d, n)57Co at the deuteron energies of 2.7 and 3.8 MeV. These measurements were conducted with the aid of a time-of-flight fast-neutron spectrometer on the basis of the EGP-15 pulsed tandem accelerator of the Institute for Physics and Power Engineering (IPPE, Obninsk). An analysis of measured data was performed within the statistical equilibrium and preequilibrium models of nuclear reactions. The respective calculations based on the Hauser–Feshbach formalism of statistical theory were carried out with nuclear-level densities given by the generalized superfluid model of the nucleus, the backshifted Fermi-gas model, and the Gilbert–Cameron composite formula. The nuclear-level densities of 49V and 57Co and their energy dependences were determined. The results were discussed together with available experimental data and data recommended by model systematics.

Hyperfine structure of the S- and P-wave states of muonic deuterium

Martynenko A., Martynenko G., Sorokin V., Faustov R.

摘要

Corrections of order α5 and α6 to the hyperfine structure of the S- and P-wave states of muonic deuteriumwere calculated on the basis of the quasipotential approach in quantum electrodynamics. Relativistic corrections, vacuum-polarization and deuteron-structure effects, and recoil corrections were taken into account in this calculation. The resulting hyperfine-splitting values can be used in a comparison with experimental data obtained by the CREMA Collaboration.

Hyperfine structure of the ground state in muonic-lithium ions

Martynenko A., Ulybin A.

摘要

Small intervals of the hyperfine structure of the ground state in the muonic-lithium ions (μe36,7Li)+ were calculated by perturbation theory in the fine-structure constant and in the electronto- muon mass ratio. Vacuum-polarization, recoil, and nuclear-structure effects and electron vertex corrections were taken into account. The values obtained for the small hyperfine-splitting intervals can be used in a comparison with future experimental data and in tests of quantum electrodynamics.

摘要

The results of an analysis of data from the SERP-Е-184 experiment devoted to studying mechanisms of the production of charmed particles in proton–nucleus interactions at 70 GeV and their decays are presented. The data in question were obtained upon irradiating the SVD-2 active target consisting of carbon, silicon, and lead plates with a beam of 70-GeV protons. A detailed simulation on the basis of the FRITIOF7.02 and GEANT3.21 code packages made it possible to optimize event-selection criteria and to calculate the detection efficiency for Λc+ baryons. After selecting a signal from the threebody decay of a Λc+ baryon, the inclusive cross section for its production at near-threshold energies, its lifetime, and the parameter of the A dependence of the cross section were found. The Λc+ -baryon yields are tabulated along with data from other experiments and theoretical predictions.

Hydrogen recombination in the early Universe in the presence of a magnetic field

Agasian N., Fedorov S.

摘要

Hydrogen recombination in the earlyUniverse in the presence of amagnetic field is studied. An equation for the recombination temperature in the presence of a magnetic field is obtained. The limiting cases of weak and strong magnetic fields are examined. A critical field above which the system being considered is in the atomic-hydrogen phase at any temperature is shown to exist. The relative shift of the recombination temperature in a magnetic field is estimated, and it is shown that this shift is small.

Nucleosynthesis of heavy elements in the r-process

Panov I.

摘要

The current state of the problem of heavy-element production in the astrophysical r-process is surveyed. The nucleosynthesis process in the neutron-star-merger scenario, within which the problem of free-neutron source is solved, is considered most comprehensively. A model that describes well the observed abundances of heavy elements is examined. Theoretical approaches used in this model to calculate a number of features of short-lived neutron-rich nuclei are described. The contributions of various fission processes to the production of heavy elements are assessed. The possibility of superheavy-element production in the r-process is demonstrated.

On the possibility for precision measurements of differential cross sections for elastic proton–proton scattering at the Protvino accelerator

Denisov S., Kozelov A., Petrov V.

摘要

Elastic-scattering data were analyzed, and it was concluded on the basis of this analysis that precisionmeasurements of differential cross sections for elastic proton–proton scattering at the accelerator of the Institute for High Energy Physics (IHEP, Protvino, Russia) over a broad momentum-transfer range are of importance and topical interest. The layout of the respective experimental facility detecting the scattered particle and recoil proton and possessing a high momentum-transfer resolution was examined along with the equipment constituting this facility. The facility in question is able to record up to a billion events of elastic proton–proton scattering per IHEP accelerator run (20 days). Other lines of physics research with this facility are briefly discussed.

Two-photon production of leptons at hadron colliders in semielastic and elastic cases

Manko A., Shulyakovsky R.

摘要

The mechanism of two-photon dilepton production is studied in the equivalent-photon (Weizsäcker–Williams) approximation. This approximation is shown to describe well experimental data from hadron accelerators. The respective total and differential cross sections were obtained for the LHC and for the Tevatron collider at various energies of colliding hadrons. The differential cross sections were studied versus the dilepton invariant mass, transverse momentum, and emission angle in the reference frame comoving with the center of mass of colliding hadrons. The cases of semielastic and inelastic collisions were examined.

On the extraction of cross sections for π0 and η photoproduction off neutrons from deuteron data

Tarasov V., Briscoe W., Dieterle M., Krusche B., Kudryavtsev A., Ostrick M., Strakovsky I.

摘要

We discuss the procedure of extracting the photoproduction cross section for neutral pseudoscalar mesons off neutrons from deuteron data. The main statement is that the final-state-interaction corrections for the proton and neutron target are in general not equal, but for π0 production there are special cases where they have to be identical and there are large regions in the parameter space of incident photon energy and pion polar angle, Θ*, where they happen to be quite similar. The corrections for both target nucleons are practically identical for π0 production in the energy range of the Δ(1232)3/2+ resonance due to the specific isospin structure of this excitation. Also above the Δ-isobar range large differences between proton and neutron correction factors are only predicted for extreme forward angles (Θ* *lt; 20°), but the results are similar for larger angles. The case of η photoproduction is also briefly considered. Numerical results for the γp → π0p and γn → π0n correction factors are discussed. Also the model description for the available data on the differential γd → π0pn cross sections are given.

Neutron productions in the fragmentation of relativistic heavy nuclei and formation of a beam of high-energy neutrons

Yurevich V.

摘要

The production of quasimonoenergetic high-energy neutrons at zero angle (0°) in the spallation of relativistic heavy nuclei is discussed by considering the example of the interaction of lead nuclei with light target nuclei. It is shown that this process can be used to generate a beam of high-energy neutrons at existing heavy ion accelerators. At the same time, itmay lead to the appearance of a parasitic neutron beam because of the interaction of the heavy-ion beam used with beam line and experimental setup materials.

The nonsinglet spin-dependent structure function evolution by Laplace and characteristics methods

Boroun G., Zarrin S., Dadfar S.

摘要

We evaluate the non-singlet spin-dependent structure function g1NS at leading order (LO) and next-to-leading order (NLO) by using the Laplace-transform technique and method of characteristics and also obtain its first moment at NLO. The polarized non-singlet structure function results are compared with the data from HERMES (A. Airapetian et al., Phys. Rev. D 75, 012007 (2007)) and E143 (K. Abe et al. (E143 Collab.), Phys. Rev. D 58, 112003 (1998)) at LO and NLO analyses and the first-moment the result at NLO is compared with the result of the NLO GRSV2000 fit. Considering the solution, this method is valid at low- and large-x regions.

摘要

We report preliminary results on the cross section of the process e+e → φ(1020)η measured at 30 center-of-mass energy points in the range from 1.59 up to 2.0 GeV. Data analysis is based on the integrated luminosity of 22 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in 2011–2012. The obtained cross section agrees with the BaBar measurement and has better statistical accuracy.

Regge vertex for quark production in the central rapidity region in the next-to-leading order

Kozlov M., Reznichenko A.

摘要

The effective vertex for quark production in the interaction of a Reggeized quark and a Reggeized gluon is calculated in the next-to-leading order (NLO). The resulting vertex is the missing component of the NLO multi-Regge amplitude featuring quark and gluon exchanges in the t channels. This calculation will make it possible to develop in future the bootstrap approach to proving quark Reggeization in the next-to-leading logarithmic approximation.

Fluctuation instability of the Dirac Sea in quark models of strong interactions

Zinovjev G., Molodtsov S.

摘要

A number of exactly integrable (quark) models of quantum field theory that feature an infinite correlation length are considered. An instability of the standard vacuum quark ensemble, a Dirac sea (in spacetimes of dimension higher than three), is highlighted. It is due to a strong ground-state degeneracy, which, in turn, stems from a special character of the energy distribution. In the case where the momentumcutoff parameter tends to infinity, this distribution becomes infinitely narrow and leads to large (unlimited) fluctuations. A comparison of the results for various vacuum ensembles, including a Dirac sea, a neutral ensemble, a color superconductor, and a Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (BCS) state, was performed. In the presence of color quark interaction, a BCS state is unambiguously chosen as the ground state of the quark ensemble.

Z+(4430): Nonexotic interpretation

Uglov T., Pakhlov P.

摘要

The possibility of describing the charged charmonium-like state Z+(4430) as the kinematical rescattering effect is examined. This approach makes it possible to avoid the introduction of exotic hadron states in the model, and one describes structures in the ψ(2S+ mass spectrum by the presence of the Ds(*)′ resonance in a hidden intermediate state. The resulting model predictions are compared with the results obtained by the LHCb Collaboration.

Study of η–η′ mixing in B-meson decay with the LHCb detector

Polikarpov S., Belyaev I., Egorychev V., Savrina D.

摘要

The first ever observation of the decay process B0J/ψη′ is described. The branching ratios were measured for the decay processes B(s) → J/ψη(′), and the η–η′ mixing angles were determined on this basis. The first indication of the occurrence of the decay process Bs → ψ(2S)η′ is presented. The respective analysis was performed on the basis of data accumulated with the LHCb detector in proton–proton collisions at the c.m. collision energies of 7 and 8 TeV and the integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1.
