On ion temperature in cryogenic discharge

Golyatina R.I., Maiorov S.A.

Abstract

The problem of the average ion energy in the gas discharge at cryogenic temperatures is analyzed. The dependences of the average ion energy on the reduced electric field strength and gas temperature are calculated by the Monte-Carlo method. A comparison with published data is performed and universal approximating dependences for all noble gases are obtained.

Conditions of dynamic change in radiation mode

Melkoumian B.V.

Abstract

The inhomogeneous wave equation for determining the previously experimentally detected change in the radiation phase in an accelerated cavity with stationary content is studied. It is shown that the radiation phase is independent of a homogeneous medium filling the accelerated cavity with unchanged phase structure. The necessary and sufficient conditions of the existence of nontrivial solutions of the equation are discussed.

Medical gamma probe based on LaBr3:Ce scintillation crystal

Berdnikova A.K., Dubinin F.A., Kantserov V.A.

Abstract

The medical gamma probe for radionuclide diagnostics based on LaBr3:Ce scintillation crystal and a silicon photomultiplier is described. Spectrometric characteristics of the detector are studied. The energy resolution is measured to be 3.6%at 662 keV and 10% at 140.5 keV. Technical parameters of the developed gamma probe are described. It is shown that it matches the best world analogues in the set of characteristics.

Effect of the spatial distribution of probe beam on the results of measurements of the disperse composition of nanoparticles by dynamic light scattering method

Bunkin N.F., Shkirin A.V., Chirikov S.N., Sendrovitz A.L.

Abstract

The model of dynamic scattering on a finite ensemble of Brownian particles in liquid is considered. It is shown that an artifact characteristic relaxation time appears in the autocorrelation function of the scattered light intensity, which is much longer than the correlation time controlled by particle diffusion in the scattering volume.

Appearance of an artifact peak in the particle size distribution measured by DLS at low concentrations

Kirichenko M.N., Sanoeva A.T., Chaikov L.L.

Abstract

The dynamic light scattering (DLS) method allows the determination of the particle size distribution of suspensions. At high dilutions, an artifact peak appears in the size distribution, which does not correspond to actual particles, but is caused by crossing the scattering volume boundaries by individual particles. The parameters of this peak are analyzed, the causes of its appearance and its effect on determined particle sizes are studied.
