Abstract

The effect of combined treatment on the tribotechnical properties of VT22 titanium alloy has been investigated. The combined treatment consisted of previous cold surface plastic deformation (ball burnishing) and subsequent thermodiffusion saturation of the surface by nitrogen. It was set that, in order to achieve high wear resistance of the VT22–BrAZhN 10-4-4 friction pair, it is necessary to carry out the ball burnishing at small loads, increasing the number of passes before nitriding.
