Predicting the cutting properties of hard alloys for the manufacture of components used in gas-turbine engines

Abstract

Hard-alloy tools for the machining of components used in gas-turbine engines are considered. Thermodynamic analysis of the relation between tool wear and mechanical and thermal phenomena provides the basis for an express method of selecting the best tool material.
