Contact in roller bearings of specific geometry
Abstract
An analytical method is developed for determining the contact parameters of cylinders when the contact geometry and structure are taken into account. If there is a gap in the roller bearing, this method permits determination of the maximum load on the roller, the roller displacement and rigidity, and the number of loaded rollers as a function of the gap width and external load.

Operational reliability of free-wheel mechanisms in a pulsed variable-speed drive
Abstract
The operational reliability of eccentric free-wheel mechanisms (of both frictional and nonfrictional types) in a pulsed variable-speed drive is studied by calculation and experiment. The grades of steel ensuring the longest life of such mechanisms in pulsed loading are determined.

Influence of cylinder curvature on the maximum shear stress at contact
Abstract
Analysis of the plane stress state of an elastic circular cylinder under coating pressure yields approximate dependences of the maximum shear stress (over the depth) on the cylinder radius. The applicability of classical Hertz–Belyaev solutions in the contact of elastic cylinders is investigated (in terms of the smallness of the contact area).

Reducing the wear of motor components by polymer additions
Abstract
The formation of a polymer coating from Ultra polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) in frictional systems is analyzed, for the example of Forum antifrictional additive. Self-organization of the system is observed. The best frequency of additive introduction in the lubrication system of an automobile is determined.

Properties of new cast antifrictional aluminum alloys
Abstract
The mechanical and antifrictional properties of new cast aluminum alloys are considered. Their properties are compared with those of cast BrO4Ts4S17 bronze, which is widely used in the railroad industry. The replacement of bronze by the new alloys improves the life of slip bearings and reduces their cost.

Two-sided laser shock processing
Abstract
The principles of two-sided laser shock processing (LSP) are considered. The differences between two-sided and one-sided laser shock processing are noted. For the example of a thin VT-6 titanium-alloy plate, finite-element modeling is used to investigate the residual stress field when using two-sided LSP. The distribution of surface microhardness is analyzed.

Influence of diamond-like antifrictional coatings on the reliability of dry milling
Abstract
The influence of an antifrictional coating obtained by the formation of diamond-like carbon films on the life of hard-alloy end mills is investigated. The capabilities of an automated diagnostic complex are analyzed. Mills with a diamond-like coating are characterized by wear resistance and low adhesion. They are more effective for machine tools with an adaptive control system on account of the slowing of processes prior to tool failure.

Improving the technological preparations for manufacturing production
Abstract
Means of faster and better technological preparation for multiproduct manufacturing are considered. The possibility of technological preparation in parallel with design and organizational preparation is demonstrated. An approach to organizational and technological design in the development of manufacturing processes is proposed. In this approach, the dynamics and goals of production systems are taken into account. A timeline for the introduction of the proposed approach is outlined, and the conditions for its successful implementation are specified.

Automation of integrated logistical product support
Abstract
Information integration is becoming a global strategy for improving the efficiency of life-cycle support. This approach ensures competitive products and high-tech products of high quality. On that basis, a unified system may be created from all the departments of the enterprise involved in the design and development of new products, preparations for production, and mass production and also the departments that support the delivery and maintenance of the product, as well as its maintenance, updating, and disposal.

Formalized description and computer simulation of the operation of flexible production systems
Abstract
The development of computer models for flexible machining systems is considered. The proposed approach permits detailed modeling at the level of each technological operation. It takes account of the influence of the parameters of the technological processes and equipment, the interaction algorithms, and the dispatch rules. This approach may be employed in the development of methods for the creation of flexible production systems, in system design and operation, and in the study of manufacturing equipment.

Smart positional servo drive for precision jig-boring machine
Abstract
The structural synthesis of a positional servo drive with variable frequency quantization of the zero-order hold in the position circuit is considered. Experiments show that, when used to control the mobile components of a precision jig-boring machine, this electric drive improves the precision in machining complex curvilinear profiles.

Influence of assembly conditions on the static load capacity of thrust ball bearings
Abstract
The influence of the assembly conditions on the rotary drag torque and static load capacity of thrust ball bearings is studied experimentally. It is found that the ball parameters and the ratio of the ball radius and the raceway radius affect the drag torque and static load capacity of the bearings. Optimal bearing geometry is established.
