Optimum Compression in a Wave Compressor with Hybrid Gas Bearings

Abstract

The concept of a wave compressor using a centered isentropic wave for air compression is considered, and shock-wave structures are studied, which are arisen when a centered wave is focused. It is concluded that the characteristic centered compression wave with reflected weak discontinuity is optimal.
