Abstract

We present the data on pulsed rapid intense cooling of thermally massive bodies. The process of rapid pulsed heating consists of alternating periods of intense heating and holding in which the main part of heat is supplied to the metal by convection and guarantees high rates of heating of the metal just in the period of heating. These cooling conditions exert a strong influence on the radial distribution of temperature inside the metal in the course of cooling.
