Abstract

The process of formation of protective cerium-containing conversion coatings on galvanized surfaces has been developed. It has been shown that cerium-containing passivating coatings on galvanized steel parts are comparable to opalescent chromate coatings on corrosion resistance and protective ability. It has been revealed that cerium-containing coatings have a self-healing ability and withstand thermal shock without degrading their characteristics.
