Abstract
The article is devoted to the General provisions and the topical aspects of the implementation of the advocacy for the protection of the suspect (the accused) in the criminal process. The study is based on an analysis of the scientific views of Russian authors, the positions of the courts and the legal community, legislative and judicial practice of the Russian Federation.
