Abstract
This article analyzes the dynamics of the medical sphere in Samara during the period of the end of XIX - beginning of XXI centuries. The author examines the social role of a doctor, the continuity in the development of medical institutions, peculiarities of their transformations, image potential of the medical sphere for the city.
