Abstract
Poverty monitoring is the most significant component of the Poverty Reduction Strategy. This article describes the international experience in developing of a Poverty monitoring system and its use in one Russian region. According to the research results we argue that this system will develop more effectively within the frameworks of a coherent new national project whose focus priority should be on reducing of the effect of poverty in the country.
