Abstract
over the past few years, the Russian Federation has undergone many changes both in socio-economic structures and in the structure of investments, in particular in the Southern Federal District, as a result of the introduction of external sanctions. The sanctions led to a reduction in investments, limited access to international markets and disruption of the economic balance, which, in turn, led to a deterioration in key economic indicators. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the prospects for socio-economic development of the regions of the Southern Federal District in the context of external sanctions. The objectives of the study are to study data on exports, imports and investments in fixed assets, as well as to identify industries most affected by sanctions, as well as an analysis of opportunities for sustainable economic development of regions under sanctions restrictions. A comprehensive approach is required to mitigate the effects of sanctions. The key strategies put forward in the study are: economic diversification, support for innovation and small business, as well as strengthening interregional ties, it is necessary to develop human capital by providing access to education, healthcare and high-quality jobs. The list of sources used lists both domestic and foreign authors who consider in their writings the impact of sanctions on the socio-economic development of the regions of the Southern Federal District. The research can be used to develop strategies to overcome the consequences of sanctions, assess the state of the regional economy, form public policy, support small and medium-sized businesses, as well as to identify areas of sustainable development under restrictions.
