Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of similarities and differences between the activities of Russia and UNESCO for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. The research analyzes their approaches to determining the essence and structure of the phenomenon of intangible cultural heritage, criteria for recognizing cultural practice as an object of intangible heritage, features of the formation of programs to support it and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of implemented programs.
