Abstract
The article aims to study the regulation of racial bias in the English language, which implies singling out groups of lexis contributing to the spread of racist ideology, as well as identifying ways of fighting racism in the language. To this end the author resorts to contextual analysis in addition to definitional and descriptive methods of research. The material under analysis comprises over 180 English words and phrases, related to racial and ethnic discrimination. These include politically correct items as well as lexical units that are no longer acceptable. The conducted research allows to reveal ways of combating racism in Modern English, at the lexical level in particular. Resorting to the ways of erasing racial bias described in the article could contribute to the overall decrease in social tension.
