Abstract
The article deals with the situation of triglossia in Luxembourg. It providees a brief historical review which helps trace the emergence of multiculturalism and multilingualism in Luxembourg. The article gives a short etymological analysis of the words “Luxembourg” and “Luxembourgish”, considers the language status of the three official languages in Luxembourg within the functional spectrum, lists the main linguistic features of Luxembourgish within vocalism and consonantism.
