Abstract
Background. The article describes the basic principles of a new progressive model of medical care - value-oriented healthcare. All forms of currently existing forms of payment for medical services do not contribute to improving their quality, and very often even on the contrary contribute to an unjustified increase in the volume of services provided and costs. Important for the patient, the effectiveness of the outcome of the disease and, as a consequence, not only the duration, but also the quality of his life are ignored.
The aim of the work is to identify the most significant causes and disadvantages of the introduction of value-based healthcare.
Results: The article provides a review of both foreign and domestic experience in the implementation of a value-oriented approach in healthcare, describes the main barriers to the implementation of innovations. According to sources, the introduction of a value-oriented approach in medical practice contributes to improving the quality of medical care and optimizing costs. For more successful implementation, it is necessary to ensure the informatization of the treatment process, personnel training and a change in the interaction between the doctor and the patient, which should be based on mutual trust, respect, a change in the social role of the patient - an active participant in the treatment process. On the other hand, it is necessary to form an attitude among the population to their own health as the highest value, and when contacting a medical organization - to follow all the recommendations of the attending physician. Among the barriers preventing the introduction of a value-based approach in medical practice, among others, the widespread phenomenon of stigmatization in our society is highlighted.
Practical implications. The results of the study can be used in the development of programs aimed at the introduction of value-based healthcare.
