Abstract
The article is devoted to a comparative study of medical herbal plants names in the Kazakh and Russian languages.Our purpose - to establish the main modes of transmission and conservation of meanings in case of switching interlanguage codes. The result: the ways of transformation of equivalent and non-equivalent names in the Kazakh language - transliteration and calquing (full and partial) have been analyzed. The author reveals cultural and specific grounds of non-equivalent names.
