Abstract
The article deals with the problems of the semantic typology of languages - a new trend in the typological linguistics, uniting the accomplishments of the modern semantics and the typological attitude to the plan of content of the language. The prerequisites of creation and the theoretical basis of the analysis of the semantic universals, typological features of semantic systems and the semantic specifics of languages are discussed in the article.
