the article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the top manager lexeme in Russian, combining an associative experiment and corpus data. The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between the subjective perception of native speakers and the normative contexts of word usage. The methodology includes a psycholinguistic experiment involving 239 recipients and an analysis of 20 contexts from the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The results of the experiment showed the dominance of the semantic components of status, managerial functions, and financial responsibility. The corpus data emphasizes the professional role, while emotional and evaluative connotations are manifested mainly in media texts. The comparison revealed a difference: respondents associate the word with material success, while corpus contexts focus on functional aspects of activity. It is established that the lexeme has become fixed as a multicomponent concept with a stable core (status + functions) and variable connotations reflecting social stereotypes. The results of the study contribute to the study of the Russian language by demonstrating how borrowed terms are adapted in the linguistic consciousness through the interaction of cognitive and social factors.
