Abstract
In spinal cord tumors, in addition to local changes caused by the local effect of the tumor, there are so-called symptoms at a distance, in the form of changes in cranial nerves, sensitivity, reflexes, etc. Changes in the overlying parts of the nervous system in spinal cord tumors are described alongside authors in the form of nystagmus, absence of corneal reflexes, weakness of the lower branch of the facial nerve, congestive nipples of the optic nerves, etc. MB Krol refers these symptoms to the so-called general phenomena associated with increased pressure inside the spinal canal. Flatau explains them by circulatory disorders and the possible toxic effects of the tumor, Marie-Foix admits the possibility of ascending myelitis. Barre, Thoma, Elsberg attach importance to the influence on vegetative elements at the level of tumor localization, other authors attach importance to the stagnation of cerebrospinal fluid over the area of compression.
