Development of the banana business in Russia

Abstract

One of the most delicious and healthy fruits in nature is the banana. It is very rich in vitamins. For example, in terms of vitamin C content, bananas are second only to citrus fruits. However, in Russia for a long time the technology of transportation, storage, and especially the ripening of these fruits was unknown. Back in Soviet times, when the first deliveries of bananas to our country began, they were transported and stored in refrigerated wagons designed for transporting vegetable products, with appropriate temperature conditions. As a result, bananas were frozen, and since they were brought green, they did not ripen under these conditions, but turned from green to gray.
