Abstract
The long-term practice of using the International System of Units (SI) according to GOST 8.417-81 "Units of physical quantities" has shown that the application of the pressure units offered in it leads to arbitrary and unintentional errors in calculations. Let's consider the causes of the resulting misunderstandings and the possibility to avoid them.

Numerical example of the effect of the selected value of barometric pressure on the value of overpressure at a given absolute pressure value for the calculation of the equipment: A - the choice of barometric pressure 1 atm = 760 mm Hg at a given absolute pressure of 2 ata. B - selection of barometric pressure 1 atm = 735.561mmHg at a given absolute pressure of 2 ata. C - selection of barometric pressure 1 bar = 750.064mmHg at a given abs. pressure of 2 bar abs. Note. The annual average barometric pressure in Moscow is 750mmHg.
