Abstract

Research on the rheological properties of slip suspensions based on aluminum oxide, which are to be used in the fabrication of ceramic filters, is presented. It is shown that replacing the water used in slips as a process binder by a water solution of carbamide and aluminum oxychloride improves the moldability of blanks and increases the mechanical characteristics of ceramic materials. The ranges of the ratios of the solid phase (sinterable powder) and liquid phase (process binder) for which the formation of coagulation and direct contacts in the slips occurs between the particles of the solid phase are determined.
