Sag Bending Control in the Production of Automobile Windshields

Makarov R.I., Khorosheva E.R.

Abstract

Random inspection quality control of laminated windshields during sag molding was performed. The deviations from the technical specifications of the surface tensile stresses at the edge of the glass were revealed. Adaptive models describing the dependence of the tensile stresses at the glass edge on the sag bending temperature were constructed. An algorithm was developed for controlling the sag bending temperature. It is shown by means of simulation modeling that the magnitude of the surface tensile stresses in the produced articles can be stabilized.

Ponomarev S.G., Tarasovskii V.P., Rybal’chenko V.V., Koshkin V.I., Vasin A.A., Smirnov A.D.

Abstract

Anomalous thermal expansion of the pressed mixture of initial reactants is observed in solid-phase synthesis of piezoceramic materials based on complex oxides with perovskite structure. Under certain conditions the magnitude of this expansion can be an indicator of the degree of completion of the solid-phase reactions. The thermal expansion of the pressed mixture of powders of potassium and sodium carbonates and niobium oxide in the synthesis of the complex oxide potassium niobate and sodium niobate KNN is analyzed. It is shown that the temperature and completeness of the synthesis reaction can be determined on the basis of this analysis. The obtained material was used to prepare samples of piezoceramic with density to 92% of the theoretical value and piezoelectric modulus d33 to 1.0 × 10–10 C/N.

Rumyantsev R.N., Il’in A.A., Lapshin M.A., Il’in A.P., Volkova A.V., Goryanskaya V.A.

Abstract

The particulars of mechanochemical interaction in the system Ca(OH)2–Al–H2O were studied by means of x-ray phase, x-ray structural, and simultaneous thermal analyses. It is shown that the combined mechanical activation of the initial components in the ratio of Ca(OH)2: Al = 1 : 2, 1 : 4, 1 : 12 and subsequent heat treatment at 1000°C leads to the formation of aluminates with the same molar ratio. Studies of the specific surface area and mechanical strength of the synthesized samples established that calcium hexaaluminate has the highest indices.

Abstract

Experimental results from the synthesis of diamond-like BCx compounds with the aid of high-pressure techniques and laser sputtering methods are presented. A combination of unique characteristics in these compounds can be attained by varying the B/C ratio. The possibility of sputtering carbon films of micron or nanosize thickness with high boron content opens up a way to use such materials on industrial scales. Hetero-diamonds with high boron content have high elastic moduli and boron-doped diamond polycrystals possess metallic conductivity.

Kruglyakov V.Y., Sutormina E.F., Kulikovskaya N.A., Rudina N.A., Isupova L.A.

Abstract

Extrusion molding, varying the particle size and the conditions for obtaining corundum, was used to obtain ceramic block carriers. The structural and mechanical properties of the molding bodies were investigated, and the textural and strength characteristics of the blocks after calcination were determined. It was shown that the use of corundum powder obtained by mixing particles of different size results in the production of molding bodies of the first or fourth structural-mechanical type and makes it possible to produce ceramic block carrier with channel density about 200 pieces/inch2, mechanical strength at least 4.3 MPa, and high resistance to thermal cycling.

Faseeva G.R., Nafikov R.M., Lapuk S.E., Kiyamov A.G., Zakharov Y.A., Kabirov R.R., Garipov L.N., Lyadov N.M., Faizrakhmanov I.A.

Abstract

The properties of ceramic are studied in the case where clay is modified by adding small amounts of glass fiber in the process of ultrasonic extrusion of laboratory samples. Ultrasound increases the strengthening action of the modifier. It consolidates the batch and orients its elongated particles along the direction of extrusion. After firing the modifier particles become hollow concretions-geodes which have a polycrystalline shell comprised of anorthite and are filled with needle-shaped crystals. The proposed method of extrusion increases the accuracy and informativeness of tests performed on modified clays.

Phases Obtained by Mechanoactivation in Ceramic Based on Calcium Phosphate Nanopowders with Ca/P = 1.25

Gudimov N.V., Belyakov A.V.

Abstract

The processes occurring during the mechanoactivation of powders and firing of samples pressed from calcium phosphate nanopowders with molar ratio Ca/P = 1.25 were studied. As a result of washing nanopowder in distilled water and alcohol after mechanoactivation ammonium phosphates were removed and only hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate were present in the ceramic. To preserve the molar ratio Ca/P = 1.25 in the ceramic washing should not be performed, and then after firing, aside from the indicated phases, calcium pyrophosphate is also present in the ceramic.

Change of the Phase Composition and Strength of Al2O3–ZrO2-Ceramic After Hydrothermal Aging

Kuz’min R.I., Veselov S.V., Cherkasova N.Y., Stukacheva N.S., Malyutina Y.N., Skiba V.Y.

Abstract

The effect of Al2O3 weight content on the stability of the phase composition and strength of ceramic in the system Al2O3–3Y-ZrO2 prepared by a commercial technology was determined. It was shown that the introduction of aluminum oxide has a positive effect on the stability of the tetragonal phase of zirconium dioxide during accelerated aging. At the same time increasing the mass content of aluminum oxide from 15 to 80% does not significantly change the ratio t-ZrO2/m-ZrO2. It was observed that the strength of all materials containing aluminum oxide increases after aging for 5 h.

Piezoelectric Transformer Aided X-Ray Generation in Vacuum

Shchagin A.V., Miroshnik V.S., Volkov V.I., Kubankin A.S., Ivashchuk O.O.

Abstract

The results of an experimental study of x-ray generation aided by a ceramic piezoelectric transformer placed in vacuum are presented. X-rays were emitted with the piezoelectric transformer tuned to resonance at about 20 kHz. A characteristic emission peak of a titanium target at energy of 4.5 keV against the Bremsstrahlung background was observed in the measured x-ray spectra. The maximum energy of the x-ray Bremsstrahlung reaches 12 keV. This means that the electrons are accelerated in vacuum in the field of the piezoelectric transformer to at least 12 keV.

Abstract

A focused femtosecond laser beam was used to produce luminescent and birefringent microregions in zinc phosphate glasses containing silver. It was shown that the optical characteristics of the microregions can be controlled by varying the repetition frequency and number of laser pulses. The obtained results are of interest for developing a theoretical model of the processes involved in the formation of nanoclusters and nanoparticles of silver in oxide glass and for developing a multi-level optical memory based on zinc phosphate glass.
