Archbishop Lazar Baranovich and Moscow Bells in Monasteries of Chernigov Land in 1680–1690s

In the first half of 1680s Lazar Baranovich, archbishop of Chernigov asked the Russian government to cast a bell for Saint Trinity Church, that he was building. The government of prince Vasilij Golitsyn and princess Sofia agreed to do it at state costs. But it appeared in short time that envoy of Lazar Baranovich in Moscow wished to have the heavier one, so a such bell was taken away from the church of Gregory of Neocaesarea in Polyanka and sent to Chernigov. The bell, specially made for the archbishop was left in Moscow and nowadays it hangs in the bell tower of Saint Basil’s Cathedral in the Red square. Besides Lazar Baranovich, Ivan Samojlovich, the hetman of the Left-Bank Ukraine, also was inspired by the high level of the Russian bell manufacture in the last quarter of 17th century and ordered a bell for another monastery of Chernigov.

Pronouns той, тая, тое in the Church Slavonic Translation of the New Testament by Epiphanius Slavinetsky and Euthymius Chudovsky

The New Testament translated from Greek by Epiphanius Slavinetsky and Euthymius Chudovsky is characterized by the excessive use of demonstrative pronouns той, таꙗ, тоѥ instead of personal pronouns of the third person. In the “draft” translation there is a large array of replacement of personal pronouns with demonstrative ones, although there is as well an opposite correction. The «clean» copy of the New Testament maintains this inconsistency. The analysis of the set of corrections allowed us to reconstruct the initial competition of the forms той, таꙗ, тоѥ and *и, *ꙗ, *ѥ. This trait isinherent to the Epiphanius Slavinetsky’s translation and is due to the orientation towards the functioning of the Greek nterpretive pronoun αὐτός as a personal one in all the cases and as a possessive pronoun in the genitive case. The inconsistency of Eupthymius’ correction is due to a combination of various factors: the following of the Epiphanius’ usage, the influence of the older Gospel translation, as well as the desire to avoid homonymy of pronouns when changing the person, dictated by exegetical considerations. The further correction observed in the «clear» copy of the New Testament shows a tendency towards the limitationin the use of the pronouns той, таꙗ, тоѥ to the contexts of the “strong” anaphora.

N.I. Tolstoy and Slavo-Serbian Literature
摘要
With this paper we would like to pay hommage to N.I. Tolstoy´s research of the pre-standard Serbian literature. That topic, as usual within the broader context of Slavia Orthodoxa, has accompanied Tolstoy during almost the whole of his scientific activity. In this area his studies about the Slav(en)oserbian lierature are of particular relevance, because it is one of rather poorly studied periods of the Serbian cultural and language history. Slav(en)oserbian literature has been in use among the Serbs in Austria during the 2nd half ofthe 18th – 1st half of the 19th century. In our overview the focus will be on such themes and questions which are rather poorly researched in the conventional sources, while N. I. Tolstoy´s works are characterized by his systemic, descriptive, analytically approach to the matter. This approach includes non-lingusitic features of the corpus, too. To demonstrate it is the main purpose of this paper.

Holidays Among Russian Emigration in Czechoslovakia in 1920‒1940s
摘要
The article deals with everyday life of the Russian diaspora in Czechoslovakia in the 1920‒1940s, namely the holidays celebrated by emigrants. It gives the typology of holidays, compares the intensity of their celebration in different decades, shows both common holidays for all emigration and specific festive events that are characteristic only for Czechoslovakia. The main sources for this research are the reports of the organizations and associations, publications in the newspapers, documentaries, diaries and memoirs of the emigrants. The author raises and tries to answer the question – if the holidays unite different directions and groups of emigration or separate them. In the work, she showed the role of emigrant holidays in the preservation of national identity in the conditions of the foreign environment, as well as in the interpenetration of the cultures of the Czech, Slovak and Russian peoples.

Alexander M. Fyodorov in the Works of Bulgarian Writer Stilian Chilingirov
摘要
On 26th December, 1919, the renowned Russian writer A.M. Fyodorov (1868–1949) fleeing the Bolshevik pogroms in Odessa, landed at the port of Varna. He stayed in Bulgaria for almost thirty years until the end of his life. It is only recently that his «Bulgarian years» began to be systematically studied. The memoirs of his Bulgarian friend, the writer Stilian Chilingirov, which were written in 1950 and specially dedicated to Fyodorov, have been the primary source of information for that studies. For the first time in science Chilingirov’s novel «Shinel bez pagoni» («A Greatcoat Without Epaulettes») (1928) is studied in connection with the biography of the Russian writer. The aim of the article is to reveal how two different genre works, a memoir and a novel, complementing each other, picture A.M. Fyodorov as a man and a writer. The thesis is that although rich in information, the works reveal Fyodorov only in the light of the Bulgarian experiences of his emigrant life, without drawing a detailed picture of his presence in Bulgaria.

Central Europe as a Myth and Model in the Texts of Czesław Miłosz, Milan Kundera and Danilo Kiš
摘要
The article analyzes the content and structure of space models built in the texts of the main representatives of the discourse on Central Europe in the 1980s – Milan Kundera, Czesław Miłosz and Danilo Kiš. It is modeled on two axes – geographical (primarily in relation to the West and Russia) and temporal (Central Europe as a fact of the past rather than the present). The subject of space is recognized as an intellectual, often an emigrant and a dissident, a bearer of culture and traumatic experience of Central Europe. Its main attributes are the indefinability of borders, the loss of multiculturalism and multilingualism, distrust of history, and cultural centrism. Despite the similarity of the communicative situation and the codes used, the concepts of each writer have a number of key differences related to their national and cultural affiliation.

The Film «Against all Odds» by Yuri Ilyenko at the Crossroads of Cultures
摘要
The article is devoted to the Soviet-Yugoslav (more precisely Ukrainian-Montenegrin) film of 1972, a unique example of a co-production in the socialist era. On the one hand, «Against all odds» develops the artistic method of Ukrainian poetic cinema of the late 1960s with its avant-garde visuality, the leveling of verbal means of expression and the desire for ethnography. On the other hand, the film declared Montenegrin cinematography as potentially separate from others in the SFRY (primarily from the Serbian one). Ilyenko works with a complex, encrypted language, full of metaphors and understatement, thanks to which the work remains open for interpretation in various aspects – both in formal and in content.

Hussism as Evaluated by the Petersburg Slavophiles (From I.S. Palmov’s Letters to V.I. Lamansky)

The article precedes the publication of two letters from the Slavist, Professor of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy Ivan Savvich Palmov to his teacher Vladimir Ivanovich Lamansky, which reveal the circumstances of Palmov's mission to the Slavic lands in the years 1881-1882. It is noted that during the mission, Palmov continued to collect materials on the history of the Hussite movement in the Czech Republic, referring primarily to the works of predecessors and followers of J. Huss. Lamansky's views on the origins and character of Hussiteism, which were reflected in his lecture courses at St. Petersburg University, are examined. Lamansky's point of view, which coincides in general with the Slavophile interpretation of Hussitism as an attempt to return to the traditions of the Cyrillic and Methodius (pre-Catholic) version of Christianity and to the liturgical practice of the Orthodox Church, is presented. The connection of Lamansky's perception about Hussiteism with his historiosophic conception is noted. According to this conception the doctrine of J. Huss and the wars of the Taborites was one of the manifestations of the civilizational confrontation between the Romano-Germanic and the Greek-Slavic worlds. The article reproduces Lamansky's critical remarks about representatives of the Czech intelligentsia and the contemporary situation of the Czechs, which led to the conflict in the St. Petersburg Slavic Benevolent Society. Moreover, some facts illustrating the nature of mutual relations between the two academics are presented.
