Nonlinear stationary elastoplastic waves in a rod

Abstract

It is shown that longitudinal nonlinear elastoplastic stationary waves can be formed in a rod. The waves can be both periodic and solitary, which is determined by the index of the strain hardening of the material, and the velocity of their propagation is less than velocity of an elastic shear wave.
