Abstract
The health of the region's population is a key factor in the growth of labor productivity and, as a result, the gross regional product as the main indicator of the economic efficiency of an individual constituent entity of the Russian Federation. In the context of modern challenges (the COVID-19 pandemic, falling birth rates and the subsequent aging of the country's population), the health of the region requires special attention from federal and regional authorities. At the same time, the implementation of truly effective measures to maintain public health requires not only the availability of appropriate resources, but also a reasonable assessment of the impact of the health of the region's residents on economic indicators.
Purpose: to identify and quantify the relationship between the state of the healthcare system, health indicators of the region's residents and the dynamics of the gross regional product.
Materials and methods: to achieve this goal, the article analyzes statistical data, including indicators of morbidity, mortality, availability of medical services and healthcare financing. The use of regression analysis will determine the degree of influence of these factors on economic growth. The article uses data from the Federal, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and regional authorities as materials for the study. These data will provide a complete picture of the state of the healthcare system in the region and its impact on economic indicators at various levels - from federal to regional.
Results. The article uses mathematical apparatus to prove the impact of the state of the healthcare system on the dynamics of GRP. It is expected that improving healthcare indicators, such as reducing morbidity and increasing the availability of medical services, will lead to increased labor productivity and, as a result, to an increase in the gross regional product.
Practical implications. The main results of the study can be used by government authorities to develop recommendations for optimizing the financing of the healthcare system, which, in turn, can contribute to intensive economic growth, as well as for planning and organizing health-preservation programs at the regional level.
