Resumo
The aim of the present study is, on the basis of E. Hall’s classification, to define the interaction proxemic zone of cinematic discourse characters, describe their relationship, and reveal correlation between phrase and internal pause lengths. The experiment employs such methods as complex perceptual analysis, method of acoustic analysis, elements of quantitative research method, and comparative analysis of prosodic parameters of the characters’ speech. The research is based on English and American cinematic discourse. As a result, differences in the lengths of phrase and pause ratio are observed. In both discourses, a tendency for longer pausing time in men’s speech is revealed. On the other hand, pausation time increases in American discourse, as compared to English one.
