Abstract
The article analyzes transcripts of election debates between K. Harris and D. Trump with the aim of revealing the party values manifested in their discourse and identifying the discursive strategies they use. Methods of structural and semantic analysis serve to reconstruct the organizing principle of American election discourse, which is the opposition between cultural values traditionally shared by the Democrats and the Republicans, with the former prioritizing freedoms and interests of people, the latter focusing on traditions and the country’s prosperity. Methods of discourse and contextual analysis show that during the election campaign the candidates used the strategies ONE OF YOU and YOUR PROTECTOR.
