Abstract
This article examines the specifics of argumentation in computer-mediated discourse, using data from francophone internet comments. The aim of the study is to identify some characteristic features of argumentation in this type of discourse, considering its constitutive characteristics. After reviewing existing approaches to defining argumentation, the paper analyzes a corpus of argumentative internet comments. The results of this research, conducted within a discursive and pragmatic framework, include several important observations regarding the correlation of comments with the issues raised in the stimulating publication; the explicitness of the thesis; the structure of argumentation; and the types of arguments.
