The phenomenon of cancel culture, being significant for a number of linguocultures, is increasingly subjected to thorough scientific analysis. The aim of this review article is to summarize and synthesize existing research dedicated to the phenomenon of cancel culture in Russian and foreign linguistics. A complete study of theoretical and practical articles which were selected according to such criteria as topic, source, and language, has made it possible to systematize research directions of cancel culture, to determine predominant ideas in Russian and Western academic environments, and to identify gaps in scientific knowledge on this topic, which include the insufficient study of the connection between the values propagated within the framework of cancel culture, and language.

The aim of the study is to show that the voicing of a written text is a discursive interaction of two materially different substances, each of which has its own cognitive mechanism for the formation of meaning and the specificity of its signification. The objectives of the study are to obtain and analyze linguistic material illustrating the interaction of oral and written channels in a situation where they demonstrate different determining potential when voicing a scientific written text: reading a text from a sheet of paper and a speech based on it in formal circumstances. The observability and measurability of the empirical properties of voiced texts will allow us to consider the main generation strategies that led to their creation. The results can be used in the practice of teaching foreign languages.

The purpose of the study is to describe the substantive aspects of the conceptual apparatus of the triad «total war - information war - cognitive war» taking into account extralinguistic circumstances. A comprehensive methodology is used by studying the phenomenon of cognitive warfare including elements of discourse and content analysis, as well as interpretative and lexico-semantic methods. It is concluded that there is a need for further research of cognitive warfare aimed at influencing the consciousness of a mass recipient in order to change not only his social behavior, but also value orientations and worldview.

The objective of the current study is to present a overview of the main features of discourse markers, a linguistic phenomenon having a rich pragmatic functionality and playing a significant role in the organization of discourse, and therefore arousing the growing interest of modern researchers. The analysis in the study is based on spontaneous French speech - the author examines some excerpts from Youtube videos in French, as well as some authentic examples of written speech. The study resulted in the identification of the fundamental features of discourse markers in various aspects (phonetic, semantic, grammatical, syntactic).

The article analyzes multiplicative verbs (mordere - to bite) in Italian-Russian language pairs in contrast to lexical units belonging to the internal-event type of pluractionality (morsicchiare - to nibble). We analyze Russian verbs-“convolutions” (kurnut’ - smoke), colloquial and slang forms (chitanut’ - read), and comparable Italian constructions with -ata verbal nouns (mangiucchiata), which compete with semelfactive perfective forms. The aim of the study is a comparative description of verbs and other lexical units with multiplicative and semelfactive semantics.

The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of the author’s description of the First Crusade based on the material of the work of Gilon of Paris of the XII century, written in medieval Latin. The features of the presentation of events and the evaluative characteristics of the characters are considered. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe evaluative constructions that reflect, on the one hand, the originality of the author’s personal understanding of reality, on the other, the well–established ethical and aesthetic canons of Western European chivalry of the Crusade era. Based on the analysis, the specifics of the author’s narrative are described, in which the real modern world of the narrator is intertwined with elements of the fictional world of Antiquity.

The article examines the concept of AIDS in fiction through the prism of frame analysis. The aim of the study is to reveal how the perception of AIDS and its social and cultural aspects are formed in the work of fiction "To the Friend Who Didn’t Save My Life" by Hervé Guibert. The main method of the research is frame analysis, which allows to examine how literary images and expressive means structure the perception of the disease. Frames of illness, death, social stigma and betrayal are analyzed. The results of the study show that literary works play an important role in shaping public opinion about AIDS, contributing to the reduction of social stigma and prejudice against people affected by AIDS.

The present study aims to identify the specifics of constructing models of a fictional hero appearance based on a comparative analysis of parallel text corpora, which is achieved using modern methods of natural language processing. The tool used was a programming code developed by the authors in the Python programming language, as well as some ready-made software solutions, in particular, the Russian software package “Balanced Linguistic Corpus Generator and Corpus Manager”. As a result, a system of verbal portrait features was developed and a universal model for describing the appearance of a fictional hero was derived.

The cognitive interest of the article is aimed at explicating the plot-forming interaction of internal and external - subjectively creative and objectively deconstructive - circumstances that prompt the author to correct the original idea. The artistic picture of the world constructed by the author is rethought by him as the structure of the conflict chosen for artistic objectification is revealed by a fan of intra- and extra-textual correlations not envisaged by the original author’s intention. The expansion of the theme of Panurge’s marriage, going beyond the cognitive potential of the grotesque, acted as a trigger that marked the transition from the perception of the natural-social world as a carnival to the perception of socio-historical man as a philosophical-anthropological problem.

Modern British postcolonial literature is a motley panorama of works created by writers with various non-British ethno-cultural roots - Indian, African, Caribbean, etc. The themes of these works are extremely relevant: the construction of a space that could be called a new home, the influence of history on human destiny, contradictory processes of social change and the emergence of new multiethnic diasporas.

In today’s global society, migration processes have reached enormous proportions. Some migrants, due to various reasons, relocating from their countries of origin to recipient countries or moving between multiple countries, are referred to as transmigrants. This group rightfully includes sports legionnaires (foreign players) who sign contracts with sports clubs in different countries while remaining citizens of their home states and members of their national teams. This article analyzes the formation of multiple identity within this group, clarifies the components of the multiple identity they develop. The main purpose of this study is to identify the positive and negative contributions this group makes to the civilizational development of sports.

The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the main concepts of China’s foreign cultural policy since 2012 using the example of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, their axiological component is analyzed, and a hieroglyphic analysis of the concepts is carried out. The axiological, structural method, as well as hieroglyphic analysis of concepts were used. The research material is the concepts presented in official policy documents, as well as in some significant political and foreign policy articles reflecting the course of cultural foreign policy development of the country.
