Abstract
The aim of the study is to reveal the connection with unknown pages of Dostoevsky’s life and work in the history of Moscow State Linguistic University. These are realities, persons and events from the Moscow period of the writer’s life: first of all, the famous building at 38 Ostozhenka Street, which housed the Moscow Commercial School, established by Empress Maria Fyodorovna, who became a trustee of the Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor, where Dostoevsky was born. The trustees of the school were wealthy Moscow merchants Kumanins, who played a huge role in the life of the writer. The article also considers the criminal activity of one of the graduates of the commercial school, the “Jacks of hearts” A. T. Neofitov, whose image is reflected in the works of Dostoyevsky.
