Abstract
The article is a concise analysis the research potential of current approaches to the study of perception metaphor in natural languages of different modalities. The author identifies the key trends and areas of growth in the study of sense perception metaphors in spoken and signed languages. Besides, she extrapolates the research outcomes to the study of sense perception metaphors in Russian Sign Language that to-date have been overlooked by Russian Sign Language linguists.
