Abstract
The article is devoted to the reception of culture-bound items in translated works. The relevance of the article is explained by the current lack of works comprehensively investigating the problem of perception of culture-bound items in translated texts, on the one hand, and their importance for forming an adequate understanding of the text in the mind of a foreign-language recipient, on the other. The methods of comparison and comparison were used as the main research methods. The material for writing the article was the text of the novel in French by the modern Swiss writer J. Dicker “La vérité sur l’affaire Harry Quebert” (2012) and its translation into Russian by I. Staf (2014). It is noted that the translation of culture-bound items should be considered from the point of view of their perception by the target audience.
