Abstract
The article gives an overview on the naming definition and the naming process in presentday linguistics; provides with an analyzis of current-technology Bundeswehr’ armed vehicles denomination. Main factors underlying the application of zoonyms for purposes of naming German heavy military vehicles are determined within military-historical context. The conclusion about the role of linguistic usage, extralinguistic pragmatic factor as well as the influence of national socialism upon the naming of Bundeswehr’ military artifacts is drawn.
