Abstract
The article provides a cultural and etymological analysis of phraseologisms and winged expressions in Latin, which form a necessary part of legal terminology in Roman and international law. The main groups of phraseologisms are identified: nominative units; quotations of ancient emperors, historians and poets; mythological phraseological expressions; legal and diplomatic formulae; mottos of states.
