Abstract
The article looks into the use of Dative objects in the Gothic language. Special attention is paid to the so-called objective Dative and its place within the system of the subject-object relations of the language in question. Verbs governing the objective Dative require a single obligatory non-prepositional Dative object. With such an approach to the objective Dative, this class of Gothic verbs proves to be quite productive. The author comes to the conclusion that the objective Dative and the Accusative case have equal status in the Gothic language.
