Abstract
The article looks into the problem of literary value of a piece of writing which is a version of a previously written story by another writer. Research relies on hermeneutic approach and methods of intertextual, structural, linguo-stylistic, philological analysis and interpretation, that serve to describe the role of intertextuality as the main principle of composing the later story, to reveal the structural, linguistic and stylistic properties of both stories, to expose the influence of the cultural and historical context, to consider the later story in terms of its literary value. It is concluded that, being stylistically different, the later story interprets the earlier one by reconstructing the situation in a new cultural context thus conveying the idea of recurrence of life.
