Abstract
The article examines the influence of L. N. Tolstoy’s artistic practice and aesthetic views on the French author of the first half of the 20th century, H. Bordeaux. The aim of the study is to identify the specifics of the reception of L. N. Tolstoy’s work and its role in shaping the artistic and aesthetic system of the selected French author. The study employs a comprehensive methodological approach, including comparative-historical, imagological, thesaurus, axiological, and biographical methods. The material for the study is H. Bordeaux’s essay “Count Leo Tolstoy. Resurrection” in the context of the essay collection “Writers and Morals: Notes, Essays, and Reflections” and the broader context of the author’s artistic work. The research demonstrates the significant degree and complex nature of the influence of L. N. Tolstoy’s work on the formation of H. Bordeaux’s artistic and aesthetic system.
