An important area of Sino-Vietnamese cooperation. Review of Nguyen Dinh Liem’s book «Mechanisms of cooperation in the border areas of Vietnam and China»

Nguyen Dinh Liem’s book «Cooperation mechanisms in the border areas of Vietnam and China» raise an important and poorly researched theme of how two neighbor countries interact and solve development problems in 7 vietnamese and 2 chinese provinces closest to border. Author pays close attention to various aspects of economic cooperation in the area and provides information on natural resources, development stage, affecting factors, existing problems. Author claims that all of the provinces have rich potential due to the wide range of minerals in the area but the infrastructure and human resources are still underdeveloped. Nguyen Dinh Liem also sticks to the opinion that besides world financial crisis it’s mainly China discourages bilateral projects and relationship. While the book represents descriptive and subjective approach to the problem it still provides valuable material for the researches.
