5. Structure and content of articles
- The title of the article should briefly, but as accurately as possible reflect the issue at hand. Avoid unspecific titles such as "On the question of ...", remember that the titles of all articles in each issue are reproduced in the international reference system for periodicals and continuing publications "Ulrich's Periodicals directory" in order to inform the world scientific community, and the words appearing in the title are used as keywords in various information systems. A clear and accurate title is the most important way to attract the attention of a wide range of scientists to your work. The recommended length of the title is no more than seven words (not including prepositions and conjunctions).
- An extended structured abstract in two languages: Russian and English, followed by 5-8 key words with a semicolon; without a semicolon at the end, should be submitted to the journal. The volume of the abstract: from 150 to 250 words (not characters). The abstract should repeat the structure of the article (Background, Purpose, Materials and Methods, Results).
- The text of the article should be carefully proofread, clear and concise.
Rubricization of the text is a necessary element of all articles, except for short reviews and informative communications. The more clearly your text is organized, the more likely it is that your ideas will be adequately understood by your readers. The editorial board welcomes the traditional division of the text into sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, but accepts other structure according to the specifics of a particular article, provided that the volume is limited and the sections are clearly named.
Elements of the original article (highlighted in the article by subheadings):
- Introduction, which formulates the relevance and novelty of the research, describes the object of research. A review of foreign and domestic literature (historiography of the problem) is given, confirming the absence of a solution to this problem in the literature and indicating the predecessors on whose research the work is based. References should include at least 15 sources, not counting references to Internet resources (which are not periodicals). The sources are subject to strict requirements for level and relevance. Formulated the purpose and problem statement, arising from the results of the literature review and containing a list of intended tasks, hypothesis (if it corresponds to the nature of the work).
- Materials and methods. An overview of materials (sources) on which the study is based, analyzing the approaches, methods and techniques used. It is inadmissible to simply list the names of materials and methods without analyzing them. Additionally (not necessarily) the logic, procedures and design of the study are described. Materials and methods should not repeat verbatim the Materials and Methods section of the abstract.
- Results and Discussion. The facts obtained, analysis of the results obtained, their interpretation through the prism of the formulated objectives and hypotheses, comparison with the results of other authors are given. The section should include descriptive statistics and description of the used methods of statistical processing. Additionally (not necessarily), it is possible to allocate additional subsections in accordance with the logic, objectives of the study. The largest part of the article. Not less than 7 and not more than 14 pages. Exceeding the volume is acceptable, but with the consent of the editorial board and with the author's justification.
- Conclusion, which summarizes the results of the scientific research, gives extended conclusions on the research. The conclusion contains numbered conclusions, summarizing the main scientific results of the article as established by the authors of the dependencies (relationships) between the parameters of the object of study. The conclusions should logically correspond to the purpose of the article, and substantively correspond to the title of the article. Conclusions should not repeat verbatim the Results section in the abstract. In the Conclusion do not use introductory summarizing phrases: So, Thus, Thus, Summarizing, etc.
- Ethics Committee Conclusion. Optional section. Please add "The study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki (or ethics committee) NAME OF INSTITUTE (protocol number and date of approval)". OR "Ethical review and approval of this study was rejected for a REASON (please provide detailed justification)". OR "Not Applicable" for research not involving humans or animals. You may also remove this statement if the study did not involve humans or animals.
- Informed Consent. Optional section. Any research article describing a study involving human subjects must include this statement. Please add "Informed consent was obtained from all subjects who participated in the study" OR "Patient consent was withheld for ANY reason (please provide detailed justification)" OR "Not applicable" for non-human studies. You may also remove this statement if the study did not involve human subjects.
Written informed consent for publication must be obtained from participating patients. Please indicate "Written informed consent was obtained from the patient(s) for publication of this article" if applicable. - Conflict of interest information. Optional section. All authors are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest in their manuscripts that could be perceived to have influenced the results or conclusions presented in the paper.
- Sponsorship information. Optional section. Authors, if available, describe the impact of sponsorship on study design; data collection, analysis, and interpretation; article writing; and publication of the paper. If the research was supported by a grant, provide the number.
- Acknowledgements. Optional section. Authors can express gratitude to people and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article in the journal, but are not its authors.
- List of references in alphabetical order (first literature in Russian, then in foreign languages), the form of compilation is explained below.
- References. In References, the titles of the reference list are simply translated into English, except for the names of journals (indicated in italics) - for them the Russian-language title is given in transliteration, and the translation into English - in square brackets in regular font. See below for more details.
The structure described may vary somewhat depending on the specifics of a particular study, but it is recommended that the authors adhere to it as much as possible.
6. Formatting of the list of references
At the end of the article, References are placed, formatted uniformly in accordance with the international APA style (see https://www.mendeley.com/guides/apa-citation-guide/).
The list of references should contain bibliographic information about all publications mentioned in the article, and should not contain references to works that are not referenced in the text. The list of references is made in alphabetical order - first domestic, then foreign authors. Bibliographic references in the text of the article should be given in square brackets in accordance with the numbering in the reference list. If the reference is given to a specific fragment of the text of the document, the serial number and pages are indicated in the reference. Information is separated by a comma. For example, [10, p. 81].
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE FOOTNOTE REFERENCES TO CITE SOURCES
If there is a DOI, it must be indicated. If the source has no DOI, but it is available on the Internet in open or closed access (for example, an article in the journal archive), then the full URL to the cited source on the journal's website should be indicated.
The name of the city is indicated in full in all cases (including: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don).
Literature in a foreign language should include at least 5 titles. The total list of literature should include at least 15 titles.
Self-citations are allowed if they are justified and in the amount of no more than 10% of the reference list.
The editorial board also does not accept all methods of "tweaking" citations of colleagues and co-authors of the author if they are unjustified for the article.
Also attached to the article is a list of references - References. See below for more details.
The order corresponds to the order of numbering in the List of References.
The names of sources (the titles of books, journals, collections, and NOT the titles of chapters or articles) and the volume number in the journal (if any) are highlighted in italics.
