Рецензиялау
All the documents relating to the submission of the manuscript for publication and other documents arising in the course of its processing are electronic and are made in a personal account on the site of the Informatics and Automation journal.
Papers submitted for publication are preliminary verified for their conformity with the journal subject, text originality and typography requirements. Materials that do not meet these requirements are rejected, and the rejection reason is specified.
Papers satisfying the stated terms are directed for a unilateral "blind" reviewing to members of the editorial board possessing the closest specialization to the paper subject.
The editorial board has the right to engage external reviewers who are the recognized experts in the subject of the peer-reviewed materials. Author or co-author of the peer-reviewed papers as well as employees of organizations’ departments where they work cannot act as reviewers.
An appointed reviewer should report any conflict of interest that may affect his opinion about the paper; he/she can and should refuse to review a specific paper if such a refusal is stipulated by the norms of scientific ethics.
The reviewer evaluates the manuscript and makes a recommendation in accordance with the approved instruction. If the reviewer recommends to reject or approve the revised article after a kind of modification, the review must contain the reasons for such a decision.
Reviewing is conducted confidentially. Review is available to the paper author in a personal account that has no indication of the reviewer’s signature, name, position, organization etc. Upon request, the review is provided to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The maximum term of the paper’s reviewing comprises 3 months.
The papers reprocessed with due consideration of the reviewers' comments are turned over to the chief editor for a decision, and finally approved by the SPC RAS order.
The reviewer receives by e-mail an invitation to review a paper. The invitation contains the review terms and deadlines as well as a link "Address of manuscript”; a transition along the mentioned link and authorization in the personal account on the website of the journal provide a reviewer with an access to the reviewing interface. The above invitation also contains a link for a fast recovery of the password for the personal account on the website.
While visiting the personal account and the papers’ abstracts studying the reviewer can accept or decline to review papers and introduce the decision to the system through the “Reviewing steps” section that suggests two options like “Accept reviewing” or “Resign reviewing”
When the reviewer accepts to review a paper and after the conformation sent to the editorial board through item 2 of the “Reviewing steps the reviewer receives a link to the paper file. The papers are delivered in the *.docx format and this is why a text editor supporting such a format is needed, say, MS Word 2007 or higher versions to view the paper text.
Upon the review completion the reviewer must fill out the review form. So, the link “Review form” is activated in section 3 of the “Reviewing steps” section. The displayed page contains a set of criteria and under them is located the drop down menu with estimates and special fields for making comments. The fields for making comments should be filled out in case the reviewer’s decision is other than “To accept a paper”.
Estimate for each criterion is made on a scale from 1 to 5, where 5 is the highest rate. The paper is assessed by the following criteria:
- Informative of title, annotation, keywords and conclusion.
- Originality and scientific novelty of results.
- Correct presentation of material.
- Relevance of list of cited literature.
Two fields for entering comments:
- Comments for the author and editors.
- Comments (exclusively for the editorial board, not shared with the author).
Upon the form completion the "Save" button should be pushed. The review form might be edited until the decision is not sent to the editorial board.
The reviewer can upload any files to the papers’ author. To do so it is necessary to select the desired file and upload it to the website by clicking the "Send" button in item 4 of the “Reviewing steps” section; several files can be uploaded. Prior to uploading it is necessary to check the contents and properties of the files for a compliance with the requirements of blind reviewing.
Once the review form is filled out and saved, the reviewer should select a recommendation about the paper from the drop down list in item 6 of the “Reviewing steps” section and click the "Send to editorial board" button. The following recommendations’ versions are available:
- Accept the paper.
- Requires revision.
- Resubmit for reviewing.
- Decline the paper.
In case the reviewer’s decision is different than "Accept the paper”, the fields for comments in the review form should be filled out.
Upon the solution selection the "Send to editorial board" button should be pushed; then a warning appears that further editing of the review form will be prohibited after the “Sent” confirmation. Upon the solution confirmation the editorial board notifies the reviewer by e-mail that his/her review is received.
The paper is declined if:
- it is not of a scientific or educational nature
- it bears an unti-scientific nature
- its reading is difficult or impossible as caused by errors in the text and/or discordance of its elements,
- its publication mightlead to violation of the current legislation of the Russian Federation or the copyright and/or related rights,
- it contains statements, judgements or conclusions confirmed neither by the authors’ own research nor by external references,
it violates the norms of scientific ethics

Online version of the journal is an open access publication for readers. When using materials it is necessary to refer to the Journal and the papers’ authors. Free reproduction of the Journal materials is allowed for personal use and free use for informational, scientific, educational or cultural purposes in accordance with Art. 1273 and 1274, Ch. 70 Part IV of the Civil Code. Other use is only possible after the signing of appropriate written agreements with the copyright holder.
Publication of papers in the Journal is FREE.
Plagiarism Policy
Journal “Informatics and automation” follow strict policy in case of plagiarism within its purview. The submitted manuscript is checked for the plagiarism of the Antiplagiat system before starting the review process.
In the case of reasonable suspicions of plagiarism or the discovery of technical methods to hide its presence, the papers are not accepted for further consideration. The authors are sent a message about the refusal to consider due to the presence of suspicion of plagiarism. If plagiarism is found in an already published paper, it is removed from publication without the possibility of restoration (without physical removal of the paper, by publishing a statement about the presence of plagiarism on the corresponding pages of the journal's website and the paper file).
If there is an incorrect borrowing in the received paper, all cases of such borrowing are considered individually.
The permissible volume of citations (correct borrowing) is not more than 30% of the total volume of the paper.
Review papers and other papers, which for objective reasons require more citations, are considered by the editors on an individual basis.
Ethics of authors
Editors of the journal “Informatics and Automation” expect authors to adhere to international standards, developed by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):
- The research being reported should have been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner and should comply with all relevant legislation.
- If requested by editors, authors should supply evidence that reported research received the appropriate approval and was carried out ethically (e.g. copies of approvals, licences, participant consent forms).
- Researchers should not generally publish or share identifiable individual data collected in the course of research without specific consent from the individual (or their representative).
- Researchers should present their results clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification. Researchers should strive to describe their methods and to present their findings clearly and unambiguously. Publications should provide sufficient detail to permit experiments to be repeated by other researchers.
- Researchers should check their publications carefully at all stages to ensure methods and findings are reported accurately. Authors should carefully check calculations, data presentations, typescripts/submissions and proofs.
- Authors should adhere to publication requirements that submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language. Work should not be submitted concurrently to more than one publication.
- The research being reported should be sound and carefully executed.
- Authors should take collective responsibility for their work and for the content of their publications. Applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed. Copyright material (e.g. tables, figures or extensive quotations) should be reproduced only with appropriate permission and acknowledgement.
- Data, text, figures or ideas originated by other researchers should be properly acknowledged and should not be presented as if they were the authors’ own. Original wording taken directly from publications by other researchers should appear in quotation marks with the appropriate citations.
- The authorship of research publications should accurately reflect individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting. Researchers should ensure that only those individuals who meet authorship criteria (i.e. made a substantial contribution to the work) are rewarded with authorship and that deserving authors are not omitted.
- Institutions should ensure that their systems for appointments and assessing research productivity do not create incentives for unacceptable practices, such as redundant publication and guest authorship.
- Reports of research should be complete. They should not omit inconvenient, inconsistent or inexplicable findings or results that do not support the authors’ or sponsors’ hypothesis or interpretation.
- Authors should not copy references from other publications if they have not read the cited work.
- New findings should be presented in the context of previous research. The work of others should be fairly represented. Relevant previous work and publications, both by other researchers and the authors’ own, should be properly acknowledged and referenced. The primary literature should be cited where possible.
