Determining the Tolerances in Fitting for Joints with Interference
Abstract
A formula for the theoretical tolerance in fitting is derived by analysis of the components in the model of parametric failure for joints with interference. The formula takes account of the life of the joint and the specified probability of fault-free operation. It is found that selection of the fit without a margin of precision does not ensure the necessary reliability of the joint, while correct selection of the margin of precision extends the fault-free operation of the joint.

Fatigue-Crack Propagation in Torsional Shafts within the Suspension of High-Speed Caterpillar Vehicles
Abstract
Abstract—To assess the durability of torsional shafts in the suspension of high-speed caterpillar vehicles on the basis of linear fracture mechanics, a mathematical model of fatigue-crack propagation is developed on the basis of Matlab/Simulink software. The model is verified in outdoor testing.

High-Efficiency Axial Pumps for Reactor Use
Abstract
The flow of viscous liquid in highly efficient commercial axial pumps is hydrodynamically analyzed. Design recommendations are made regarding the flow sections of the pump, so as to ensure a pressure characteristic with no descending section and efficient coolant circulation in a fast-neutron reactor.

Autoclave Molding of Thermoprotective Coatings on Large Products Using a Metal composite Mandrel
Abstract
Abstract—A technology is developed for the application of a thermoprotective coating by autoclave molding with a metal composite mandrel. This technology decreases the financial and labor expenditures in production. The proposed method is compared with the application of a thermoprotective coating by hydroclave molding

Robot-Assisted Laser Strengthening: Mathematical Aspects
Abstract
Abstract—A mathematical model is developed for predicting the surface characteristics of dies after laser strengthening by the Geksapod robotic system. The optimization of the laser-strengthening parameters is confirmed experimentally.

Mechanical Properties of Steel after Gas-Phase Application of a Nickel Coating
Abstract
A new method has been developed for the corrosion protection of steel parts: gas-phase coating application. The resulting coating is characterized by high density, chemical resistance to aggressive media, and good surface adhesion. This method may be used for parts of complex shape. The static and fatigue failure of БСт.3сп, 40, and Э10 steel is investigated, in the presence of nickel coatings of different thickness, applied at different temperatures.

Predicting the Cavitational Wear Resistance of Electrolytic Chromium Coatings
Abstract

Auxiliary Drives for Automated Assembly Systems
Abstract
Basic types of auxiliary drives in automated assembly systems are compared in terms of generalized characteristics. Regulation of the pneumatic drive by means of servomechanical positioning systems is considered. Diagrams are presented for assessment of the mean velocities and travel times of mechatronic modules in the angular positioning of loading drives on the basis of kinematic and mechanical characteristics.

Automated Belt Grinding of Axial-Compressor Blades in Gas-Turbine Engines
Abstract
The finishing of the flow sections of compressor blades is considered. A sequence of operations for this purpose in an automated cycle is proposed. The development of control programs for the grinding of flow sections of the blades is discussed, with allowance for the nonuniform distribution of the margin over the blade surface.

Automated Manufacture of Blades for Gas-Turbine Engines
Abstract
A new method is proposed for manufacturing the external contour of turbine blades, by means of a single coordinate system, without changing the technological bases or repositioning the workpiece. A specially designed multifunctional machine permits machining of the turbine blades and their preliminary orientation in the coordinate system.

Determining the Machining Error due to Tool Heating
Abstract
Principles are outlined for calculating the machining error associated with shift of the cutting edge due to tool heating on cutting. The following factors are taken into account in calculating the temperature at the workpiece surface: the cutting conditions, the tool geometry, and the physicomechanical properties of the workpiece and tool.
